Juan Carlos Fleites, M.D.

Dr. Juan Carlos Fleites earned his medical degree in 1990 from Universidad Central del Caribe in Puerto Rico. He then completed his general surgery training at Brookdale Hospital Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York, where he was chief resident in his final year. Dr. Fleites was recognized with the Outstanding Resident Achievement Award by the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons in his last two years of residency. As part of his training, he completed a fellowship in microsurgery at the Montefiore medical center in Bronx, New York. He has attended many post-graduate courses including laparoscopic and bariatric surgery.

Dr. Fleites is certified by The American Board of Surgery. He is the Chairman of the department of surgery at Mercy Hospital and is the Medical Director of the Surgical Weight Loss Center at Mercy Hospital, designated Center of Excellence for Bariatric Surgery by the American Society of Bariatric Surgery.    He is currently a preceptor in Laparoscopic Colectomy and Bariatric Surgery for US Surgical Corporation and Applied Medical.
